Udobizness of the Week: Styled by Tade

This week, Udoblog still explores in the fashion world, with the spotlight this time around on Styled by Tade, a fashion business owned by Tosin Aina.

Tosin mentions that she enjoys everything fashion; from styling to blogging. She also enjoys travelling and reading; plus, on the side, she is into social media management as well. Styled by Tade was launched in 2019 when Tosin decided it was time for her to explore her passion for fashion. She decided to focus more on making women look their best by providing them with affordable, high quality clothes.

According to Tosin, the biggest obstacles faced since official business launch were raising capital and growing a solid customer base. She added that funding could still be seen as a challenge up till now because it is one of the major hindrances in her goal of actually designing and making clothes as opposed to just selling the products of other brands. She sees designing and making custom pieces as a huge step because it is vital to her goal of giving women confidence in their look, styles and fashion choices. Her aim for Styled by Tade is for it to become internationally recognized as a high-quality fashion brand. In Tosin’s eyes, there is a lot to do to get to that point, especially considering that right now, she considers this business to be on the same level as a side hustle based on the attention she gives it.

Tosin is one of the few that believes that Nigeria is a god place for business growth and development. She does, however, acknowledge the fact that some conditions could be better to encourage more people to explore the road to entrepreneurship. We obviously asked her if she had any advice for those who are finding it difficult to succeed as Nigerian entrepreneurs and her word-for-word reply was: "Life isn't always rosy as you want it to be but always remember why you are on this journey. Passion leads you to wherever you want to be, and it will happen in due time. Nothing is ever permanent in life. Just keep pushing and living. The stars are yours. ". That’s some deep stuff right there if you ask me but also, there are really powerful sub-texts in that message that everyone can learn from.

Tosin says her relationships with male customers have been a thing of joy so far; mostly because all her male customers are buying clothes to impress some female in their life and therefore hold her advice in high regard. She does understand the way Nigeria is towards women in business though and believes that women should not be afraid to venture into entrepreneurship as everything comes with a different set of challenges.
